The Moroccan Prime Minister Saad-Eddine El Othmani stressed that "the economic situation will be difficult after the Corona pandemic, whose losses are difficult to take note of," adding that "the observance committee is in the process of developing scenarios of economic take-off."

He explained that it is "difficult now to take note of the economic losses caused by the virus," affirming that "thinking is focused on the post-Corona stage."

Al-Othmani pointed out that "there is still no perception about what the economy will be, as daily data change continuously," considering that "every production sector is currently assessing its position to establish a post-pandemic perception and perceptions of each sector will be referred to the Economic Observance Committee" where post-pandemic scenarios will be developed.

Al-Othmani revealed that 62% of the companies are partially or totally suspended from work due to the pandemic. In addition, in April, 900,000 workers stopped working, out of the 2.6 million workers authorized by the National Social Security Fund.

The High Commission for Planning revealed that the number of the unemployed increased to 1.29 million in the first quarter of this year, an increase of 19.1%, but it is expected to jump to record levels in the second quarter, where the most losses incurred by the economy will appear.
